NAC Mini-Challenge - Steampunk (February 2011)

I'm already taking part in the New Author Challenge hosted by Literary Escapism and as Steampunk is a genre I've been wanting to try for ages I'm signing up for the February Mini-Challenge.  The fact that I need ideas for a Steampunk costume for AAD in August means this is perfect timing for a Steampunk challenge!

The challenge is to read up to 5 Steampunk novels (preferably by new to you authors).  I'm not sure I'll have time to read 5 books but I'm going to try and read as many as I can.  If you want to join me and take part in the challenge click here.

I definitely want to read Soulless by Gail Carriger (I bought the first 3 books in the Parasol Protectorate series a few months ago but still haven't started reading them yet!).  I also have a copy of Magic Under Glass by Jaclyn Dolamore so I might give that one a try too.

After that I've run out of ideas so if you have any Steampunk recommendations please leave me a comment.  I'm supposed to be on a book buying ban but I have a feeling I might have to order a couple of books for this challenge!

The books I read for this challenge will be listed below (links will take you to my reviews):
  1. Soulless - Gail Carriger
  2. Magic Under Glass - Jaclyn Dolamore
3rd March - Well I didn't manage to read 5 steampunk novels but I'm quite happy that I managed to fit in 2.  I've been wanting to start the Parasol Protectorate series for ages so I'm glad I finally managed to read Soulless - I'm definitely looking forward to reading more of these books.

I'm still fairly new to Steampunk but I'm sure it's a genre I'll be reading a lot more of in the future!

  2. Hi Hannah, thanks for the recommendation I'll definitely have to get hold of The Affinity Bridge :o) Not sure if I'll have a chance to read it this month though but I'll try.

I had a look at the steampunk couture website, they have some fab clothes on there! I don't want to spend too much on a costume but it has definitely given me some ideas :o)
